Golf Tip - Aim

GOLF TIP – June 2010

There seems to be a lot of attention on how to swing properly without any attention given to making sure that we are aiming properly to give ourselves the best chance of striking the ball towards the target. Try using the following procedure to get rid of any guess work to increase your chance at success.
Instead of trying to aim your golf club at the flag you should try to aim it at an intermediate target like a leaf, divot etc… that is positioned on-line with your target but is only 1-2 feet in front of you. The easiest way to find an intermediate target is to stand behind your ball with an imaginary line from the ball to the target. On that line there is always something to use as an intermediate target, it’s just a matter of finding it. After finding it, address the ball while paying special attention to where your golf club is aiming. The club should be pointed at the intermediate target which is on line with the actual target. With this alignment you have at least given yourself a chance to hit the shot where you want to.
